This mother presents her speech on the inaccuracy of the CRT. To begin her speech, she states that black history is a small section in the history book and that although slavery ended in 1865, the Black history section is filled with only slavery, trauma, and inferiority content. She says CRT is not an accurate account of neither Black history nor American history and shouldn’t be allowed to pass as such. She reads about the poor literacy performance amongst students in the Hamilton County school district, and that barely any kid can define CRT or understand its complexities. She says although CRT is banned in the state of Tennessee her son was given an assignment that follows up on the banning of the CRT, asking what the problem with the CRT was. She says this is a problem and the focus should be on teaching kids in areas they are not performing well in, such as sciences and mathematics.

She continues that the bad performance in such areas is not due to race as her son is performing exceptionally well academically. She further talks about her schooling experience where black kids only made up about 15% of the school population and she says she never experienced discrimination or oppression as the CRT suggests. She clarifies that this is in stark contrast to her child’s experience and that it will further alienate black children. To conclude her speech, she says CRT has no place at school and that every child has an equal opportunity and can overcome anything regardless of their background.
